monas
Monas or National Monument is an icon of the city. Located in downtown Jakarta, a tourist and educational center that appeals to people in Jakarta and surrounding areas. Monument was established in 1959 and opened two years later in 1961. Monas is always crowded by tourists to see the beauty of the city from the top of the monument, adding insight into the history of Indonesia in the living room or enjoy the fresh forest diorama city area of approximately 80 acres in downtown Jakarta.
Historical monument
Monas was built in August 1959. The entire building was designed by the architects Monas Indonesia, Soedarsono, Frederich Silaban and Ir. Rooseno. On August 17, 1961, the monument was inaugurated by President Soekarno. And opened to the public since July 12, 1975.
While the urban forest park areas around Monas Field formerly known as Gambir. Then had changed its name several times to Field Ikada, Merdeka Square, National Monument Square and later became Monas Park.
Size and Content Monas
Monas was built at 132 meters and yoni phallus-shaped. The entire building is covered by a marble.

At the top there is a cup on which there are flames of bronze 17 meters tall and 6 meters in diameter with a weight of 14.5 tons. This flame-coated gold weighing 45 kg. Flame monument consists of 77 sections joined together.
courtyard Peak
Apex court of the extent of 11x11 m. To reach the top of the courtyard, visitors can use the lift with long travel about 3 minutes. All around there is a stair lift emergency. From the top of the monument yard, visitors can see the skyscrapers buildings in the city. Even if the air is clear, visitors can see Mount Salak in West Java and the Java Sea to the Thousand Islands.
Under the court
The breadth of the court of 45x45 m. Height from the bottom of the monument to the lower court that is 17 feet. In this section, visitors can see the Monument Park is a beautiful urban forest.
Historical Museum of the National Struggle
At the bottom of the monument there is a large room that is the National Museum. Height is 8 feet. This museum showcases the history of the struggle of the Indonesian nation. The area of the museum is 80x80 m. On the fourth side of the museum there are 12 dioramas (window displays) that displays the history of Indonesia from the time of the kingdoms of Indonesian ancestors until G30S PKI.
In addition it is planned to display the flag heritage and the original copy of the proclamation in building the monument. Here are also shown the development plan of the city.
